Mossley 4-1 Pickering Town, Seel Park, Northern Premier League Division One North West, 26/09/2020

A group of young boys sneak into the ground during the first half as Mossley take on Pickering Town. Formed in 1903, Mossley moved into their current ground in 1912 and have played there ever since. The game was watched by a crowd of 400, the maximum number permitted in the ground under Covid-19 social distancing regulations.

Photo by Colin McPherson. "At most games I photograph, the action on the pitch is of secondary importance for me in comparison to what is happening away from it. I look for casual and subtle moments which add to the sense of occasion at games. In this instance, I loved the informal game of hide-and-seek which was going on behind one of the sheds while the players were giving it all on the pitch."

All images printed on stunning Hahnemühle fine art paper.
